Biography
Laura Eckstein is an attorney, Army JAG officer, part-time Municipal Court Judge, and law firm owner, representing clients in state and federal matters. Laura is licensed to practice law in three states (UT, AZ, OR) and 6 federal jurisdictions, including the United States Supreme Court. Over her 24-year legal career, she has practiced civil and criminal law (both prosecution and defense), and has worked at the federal, state, and local levels. A 1998 graduate of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, she clerked for a U.S. District Court Judge in Utah for 6 years, then moved to Arizona and opened a successful practice there. She later relocated to Oregon, where she again stood up a successful solo law practice, and now operates her firm in both Arizona and Oregon. She has also worked at the U.S. Senate, the Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C., a mid-sized city, and for a number of small law firms over the years. She presently serves on an advisory committee for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and is elected to the Small/Solo Section and Family Law Executive Committees of the Oregon State Bar. She and her husband Brock have 7 children, 3 grandchildren, 2 dogs, and 1 gym.
